According to Adam Schefter, the Denver Broncos have signed wide out Keary Colbert to a three year deal worth 2.42 million a year. This news is also being confirmed by Bill Williamson of the Denver Post.

Let me be the first Broncos blogger to say welcome aboard! On a side note, I think this is a decent signing. Colbert has #2 potential, but also has to be more consistent catching the ball and staying healthy. If he can return to his rookie season form and work hard in the off-season, Colbert could have a good first year with the Broncos.
How this impacts the draft: Signing a quality depth player like Colbert eases the need on selecting a wide receiver early, but it still could be an option. As of now, expect the Broncos to focus on improving linebacker and their lines within the first several rounds, but give wide receiver somewhere on Day 2.
How he’ll impact the team: Expect Colbert to get quality playing time. He shouldn’t have a hard time beating out Brandon Stokley as long as he’s healthy. Statistic wise, Broncos fans should be pleased if he puts up around 40-50 catches, and about 500 yards.
Was he worth the price? Absolutely. With Berrian and Stallworth are better players, but Colbert has similar potential. While they’re making over 10 million in guarantees each and averaging 5-6 million a year, Colbert comes to Denver at about three years and roughly seven million dollars. With the market priced the way it was, the Broncos found a solid option for a good price.
So after about two days of swearing, crying and praying for help – Broncos fans have got their first out of the house signing of 2008. With that said, here’s a little humor:

Now can I get an amen?
