Wrapping Up Camp and a Contract.

July 11, 2007

Before we get into the Day 2 Camp Highlights, there’s some player news that we just have to tackle. According to various outlets, fourth-round draft choice Marcus Thomas signed an undisclosed contract with the Broncos today. However, a little internet sleuthing never hurt anybody, and courtesy of Rotoworld – the terms of the deal are such: four years, with a $428,000 signing bonus – which should be enough to cover the cost of his mother’s and own BMW. Money well spent if you ask me, because I’d much rather have Thomas driving a BMW than spending that whole signing bonus on pot, which would be around 100 pounds. (I just happen to know the streets.)

In regards to wrapping up the camp, Andrew Mason once again brought forth excellent coverage and information on his blog over at DenverBroncos.com. Some key highlights you should know are: Third-round selection Ryan Harris resumed to practice after getting a little “pounded” on the first day of activities. . . Young defensive lineman Jarvis Moss and Elvis Dumervil were rotating in and out of first-team sets, and Ebenezer Ekuban saw time at tackle. . . Brandon Marshall continues to leave people wondering after tweaking his quad muscle on a route. . . And Sam Adams is still, one large man and always a good choice.

Broncos Mini Camp: Day 1 Notes

July 10, 2007

In case you have trouble following all the links out there regarding the Broncos and their first day of their July Mini Camp, we have you covered. Thank you to all of the following who have contributed their time and efforts to report the news surrounding the Broncos. Please visit all the following websites for more news and information regarding the Broncos, they’re worth the look.

According to Andrew Mason of DenverBroncos.com, Marcus Thomas and Chris Kuper have exchanged numbers. Thomas will now be wearing #79 and Kuper will be wearing #77. Also noted in Mason’s blog – Ryan Harris hit the ground and was examined by trainers, but was able to get off the field under his own power. . . Brandon Marshall seems to be at 100% since suffering a thigh injury in the team’s opening OTA’s. . . Eddie Moore and Warrick Holdman are each seeing time at strong side linebacker, and Cecil Sapp is currently running as the second-team running back.

Regarding depth charts, Mason reports that (from left to right) the starting offensive line is Matt Lepsis, Ben Hamilton, Tom Nalen, Chris Kuper and Erik Pears and on the defensive front, players were being mixed and matched in situations, but Alvin McKinley, Gerard Warren, Ebenezer Ekuban and Elvis Dumervil were highlighted as names running with the first-team.

In an article regarding first-round selection Jarvis Moss, Frank Schwab of the Gazette reports that Moss has gained seven pounds since his arrival in Denver and is up to 255 pounds from 248 and that his goal is 260 before the season starts.

The Denver Post cites Jay Cutler and Travis Henry have looked particularly sharp in camp – and defensive tackle acquisitions Jimmy Kennedy and Sam Adams looked extremely big, weighing in at 320 and 350 pounds respectively.

Fox Sports is reporting that off-season acquisition Brandon Stokley sees favorable comparisons between Jay Cutler and former teammate Peyton Manning citing their great arms and knack for the game being their strongest similarities. On a side note, Stokley is expected to be 100% by the start of training camp.

More news from Day 2 on the way later this evening and tomorrow, stay tuned!
